The events of Street Fighter 3: Third Strike currently marks the latest point in the Street Fighter timeline. Street Fighter 3 was originally released back in 1997. The final update to the game, Third Strike, was later released in 1999.

Unfortunately for Capcom, Street Fighter 3 saw sales figures that were considerably less impressive than Street Fighter 2's. While Street Fighter 3 is appreciated more by the fighting game community today, Capcom's design decisions for Street Fighter 3 ultimately resulted in a game that was difficult for newcomers to the fighting game genre to jump into.

  • This is a basic how to play tutorial that explains the fighting system of Street Fighter III 3rd Strike. LEGEND and TIPS BELOW!!! All Street Fighter 3 3rd.
  • Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition, one of the most revered, deep, and sophisticated fighting games of all time, now takes the battle online. Fighting game fans new and old owe it to themselves to experience this mastery of 2D fighting.
  • Below are the changes and additions to each character. All other things remain the same as the original Street Fighter III: Third Strike. While these changes do not truly 'balance' the game, they should hopefully give you a version of the character that is a lot of fun to play with.

This and many other factors would then result in a bit of a drought of the fighting game genre. In particular, Street Fighter wouldn't see its next numbered entry until after nearly 10 years.

As such, not everyone has had the opportunity to play through Street Fighter 3 and understand the lore contained within the game's arcade mode.

When Street Fighter 4 was released, it ended up being a prequel to the events of Street Fighter 3. Similarly, Street Fighter 5's story serves as the interquel between Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter 3.

For whatever reason, Capcom has thus far been unwilling to go past Street Fighter 3's story. Will Capcom simply repeat the same formula and place the eventual Street Fighter 6 between Street Fighter 5 and Street Fighter 3 in the timeline?

It really feels like Street Fighter 5's main story, A Shadow Falls, has perfectly set the scene for Street Fighter 3. Though Gill's part in the story was overall quite minor, he seems ready to take up his role as the big bad final boss once again — something he hasn't done for 20 years now.

There are still plenty of unanswered questions in Street Fighter 3 that have yet to be answered. Street Fighter 3's storytelling was also very vague in certain areas since story content wasn't as much of a focus back at the time of the game's creation.

It seems like Street Fighter 6 could work well as a retelling of Street Fighter 3. Of course, there's plenty of room for characters that weren't originally in any version of Street Fighter 3.

Certain elements can be fleshed out, like Gill and Urien's strained relationship. This is something that was briefly touched upon during Gill's prologue story. Needless to say, this painted the two brothers' relationship in a different light than Street Fighter 3's events.

A more modernized take of Street Fighter 3's events would certainly be interesting to see.
